The Legal Action Center (LAC) is a non-profit law and policy organization whose sole mission is to fight discrimination against people with histories of addiction, HIV/AIDS, or criminal records, and to advocate for sound public policies in these areas. LAC completed a 2-year study that catalogues the legal obstacles that people with criminal records face in each of the fifty states. LAC hired Cabengo to help them make the issue of re-entry accessible to primary audiences both online and in print.
Cabengo developed a communications strategy; helped LAC edit and structure its editorial content; and developed a user-centered architecture and navigation scheme for the online component. To make the text-heavy website more readable, we created graphic icons for each of the roadblocks to reentry. We also developed a content management tool to enable LAC to update the site, as laws and policies change. Finally, we produced a companion print publication that contains the key findings of the study.
